Four-person teams will compete on Friday, July 23, beginning at 6 p.m. in captain's choice format. Beginning at 6 in the evening? That's right. The first nine holes will be played before dark. Dinner will be provided, and then the last nine holes will be played using glow-in-the-dark balls and flags. The cost is $50 per person or $200 per team. • GREENBRIER CLASSIC - The Greenbrier's Old White Course will be an official stop on the 2010 PGA Tour. The Greenbrier Classic will take place July 26 through Aug. 1, 2010, as part of the FedEx Cup Series. And now you can be a part of the action. Purchase your tournament badge from GREENBRIERCLASSIC.COM, and select "Westminster at Wade DBA The Wade Center" as your charity of choice. We'll benefit from 30% of the sale! These badges give you tournament access for the entire week, and currently they are the only guaranteed way to get into the grounds. Check out our FLYER or CLICK HERE to buy yours now!

A FEW PAST EVENTS:

Wade plans special events for people of all ages that provide opportunities for cultural enrichment. Some also function as fundraisers that help us continue our important work in the community. Check this page regularly for a list of events we are planning in the future, and then mark your calendar so you won't miss out on any of the action! Check out a few of our favorite past events!

Young people often struggle with depression and self-injury in silence. To bring these issues into the light, we welcomed To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA) to the area. These experts spoke about how teens can find help and healing at area schools and at a seminar we held for youth workers and social workers.

Valuable sports memorabilia were among the items donated for our first auction. Since then, Wade has hosted regular auctions featuring new items from America's #1 Shop-at-Home Channel. And we have an art auction scheduled as well. Watch this page, and mark your calendar for this fun fundraiser!

Nearly 100 golfers participated in the 2009 Friends of Coal Golf Classic, which raised $20,000 for the Wade Center. All of the participants were connected to the coal industry and used the tournament to relax and entertain customers, while raising money for an excellent cause.

Some comedians think shows filled with profanity and off-color humor are funny. But not Ron McGehee! He has made a name for himself as a family-friendly comedian, even starring on NBC's "Last Comic Standing." He didn't disappoint at Wade either, leaving all our sides hurting from laughing so hard.

Our AmeriCorps volunteers joined our staff to focus on literacy. To help develop a library for Wade, they organized a family fall festival. Admission price to this fun event at Bluefield College was $5 or the donation of a book. There were games, contests and food at this great outdoor event!

The Wade Center recently welcomed a community group to our stage as they performed a musical drama for Easter called "Bow The Knee." This production featured the most complex staging and lighting seen at the Wade Center yet, as well as a very large cast of talented local actors and singers. Many lives were changed!
