Missions
The Wade Center's mission program is a year round project designed to provide mission and volunteer teams opportunities to serve Bluefield, WV and surrounding areas.
Our missions have a focus in relational ministry, serving at-risk children within our program and families in our community. In addition to building relationships, there are a variety of opportunities to serve our community. Whether volunteers would like to focus on building relationships, engaging their talents, or just assisting where needed, we seek out those opportunities to cultivate a special connection to the community through selfless service.
Mission teams this past year have enjoyed leading our kids' program through children's worship, STEM activities, games, and enrichment activities. These teams have also taken part in planning events with the elderly community, city clean-up and art projects, serving in food banks & soup kitchens, and many other uplifting projects.
Relational Ministry
A key element in spiritual growth is reaching out to others to show the love of God through building relationships. The Wade Center provides a perfect place for out-of-town groups to do this, offering opportunities both in community improvement and relational ministry. Visiting
Extended Facility
The two-building campus includes several group gathering areas: a full-court gym, large cafeteria, playground, private conference room, outdoor basketball courts, pavilion, welcome center, and an auditorium with a stage. Teams enjoy watching movies, leading worship, or playing games on our large projectors. Other parts of the facility used for the children’s program include: classrooms, computer labs, garden, art room, library, tutoring facilities, equipped music room, clothing closet, food distribution closet, additional restrooms, offices and more. The building is always undergoing upgrades and teams enjoy helping us revamp and organize!
Easy Registration
We offer flexible registration packages to accommodate for the needs of the team as they serve The Wade Center, and the Bluefield community. Teams have the option to select our traditional registration packages, which provide lodging and meals included in the trip cost, or a registration package with meals not included. Teams can also adjust the length of the trip by adding additional days, or choosing a short-trip registration when available.
Additional Activities
When teams are not serving at The Wade Center, they have enjoyed a wide variety of activities in the area. These activities include: visiting the Pocahontas Exhibition Coal Mine, hiking at various hiking trails, viewing the sunset at the East River Mountain Overlook, touring the Wolf Creek Indian Village, or taking a trip back in time at The Corner Shop in Bramwell.
